"No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall have intervened."
This amendment made it so any pay increase that congress decides on for themselves, only comes into affect in the next session of congress. Before this amendment, congressman were able to increase their own personal salaries immediately if so voted.
This candidate Adam Kokesh post this next video as a call to action for his fellow congressman to decrease congressional pay. While many Americans are suffering to put food on the table and pay their bills, congressman have a hefty salary that includes comprehensive health care that many of them do not wish to extend to the rest of their fellow Americans.
As tax payers, we pay congressional salaries as well as their benefits. One of these benefits happens to be comprehensive health care, something that many of these congressman do not wish to extend to us, and something which we have somehow tricked ourselves into believing we do not deserve. Twenty-sixth Amendment
"Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age.
Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."
This amendment lowered the voting age to 18. During the Vietnam war, soldiers would go off to war at the age of 17 or 18 and return before they were 21. They were not allowed to vote in the elections because they were not yet of age, even though they had fought and watched their fellow soldiers die for this country. This amendment was essentially a tribute to those Vietnam vets.
The below video is a Vietnam war protest. Though some Vietnam vets were not old enough to vote, they played their part in politics by joining anti war protests.
As this amendment was a government tribute to the Vietnam vets, this next video is a tribute to them as well.

The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any primary or other election for President or Vice President, for electors for President or Vice President, or for Senator or Representative in Congress, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any State by reason of failure to pay any poll tax or other tax. Section 2. The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."
This amendment illegalized the use of poll taxes, or of having voter pay a fee before they could vote. During the Civil Rights era, poll taxes were used to keep poor blacks from being able to vote.

This amendment set term limits for president. Though George Washington set the precedent of two terms, FDR ran and was elected for four consecutive terms. Apparently FDR was too successful for too long and conservatives wanted to inhibit that sort of justice in the future."Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term. Section 2. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years from the date of its submission to the States by the Congress."

Obviously these students didn't pay attention in their American government courses because they sign the petition saying "women's suffrage is really bad." This amendment shall not be so construed as to affect the election or term of any Senator chosen before it becomes valid as part of the Constitution."
This amendment outlines the parameters of the senate. Also, this amendment makes it so that the people directly elect senators instead of state governments electing senators.

The south was able to evade allowing blacks to vote by forcing blacks to pay poll taxes or take literacy tests before they voted. Though it would seem logical that women would at this time also be allowed to vote, however, that was not the case. Women were still not allowed to vote for 50 years.

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. This amendment states that rights not listed in the constitution for the federal government are reserved for state governments and "the people." Since the federal government represents the American people as a whole, this amendment can be interpreted in a wide array of perspectives. For example, in United States v Darby, the court ruled that the national government has the right to regulate interstate commerce AND industry, allowing the federal government the final say in the Darby Lumber Co. dilemma.

Second Amendment
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
The second amendment is usually referenced when there is any debate on gun control. This law was passed so the colonists would be able to protect their farms and villages yet is used to rationalize the attempts to legalize fully automatic weapons. The Framers could never have imagined the types of weaponry we would have today and thus we must place limits on the types of weaponry the average citizen is allowed to posses. It would be horribly irresponsible for the average household to contain weapons like AK-47s and RPGs yet hunting rifles and pistols have a rational purpose. Some would argue that any gun can be used to kill someone so either they should all be legal or illegal. I however, find it pretty ineffective and ridiculous to deal in such absolutes. I would argue instead that the weapons intent is more relevant than its capabilities. A hunting rifle is designed to kill an animal for food (or unfortunately for sport), an AK-47 is designed to kill people. I would thus draw the line between guns with an appropriate purpose an inappropriate, even dangerous purpose. The video below elaborates on the difficulties that occur with translating the Constitution for modern purposes in a quite comical way.

The first amendment is often debated and often cited. It guarantees us the right to state our opinions and ideals through speech, press, petition, and assembly. It guarantees us the right to criticize our government and government leaders, even to criticize the president. Without this right we would not have the ability to have open discussions on public policy and develop opinions and policy reflective of the vast opinions and factions in this country. The Preamble
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
The Preamble is the introductory paragraph of the constitution. It says that the constitution is a document written by the people, to provide for the people. It doesn't list any of the specific rights we as citizens are given, but outlines the purpose of the constitution. Many American patriots take pride in the simple eloquence of this passage, even though our capitalist, imperialist society has all but provided for the general welfare or insured domestic tranquility. Despite that, the Preamble is a good outline for what America should strive to be. "We the people," by far the most important sentence fragment in there. It means, ultimately, the people have the power. We the people are strong, and if we work together, we can make this nation something the founding fathers would be proud of.
This video is a video adaptation of a Flobots song. I would say it is the Flobots and video editor's modern take on the Preamble. The Flobots make it a theme of calling to action their listeners and reinforcing the idea of "We the people," or the idea that the government should rule for the people, by the people.
